We paddled on the Connecticut and up Mink Brook with Jane’s son and sister this afternoon.
It was quite chilly (in the lower 50’s). Unless we have some nice weather next weekend, this was the last one of the season.

We paddled on McDaniels Marsh on Monday.
We didn’t see much wildlife– most had flown south. We did see a cormorant,
some ducks in the distance,
as well as a kingfisher doing it’s “I don’t want my picture taken” act and maybe a kite. But the paddle was nice anyway.
We paddled on the Pompy this morning.
We didn’t see much wildlife: a few ducks
and a bird feeder full of song birds
with a chipmunk underneath.
On the Ompompanoosuc yesterday.
On the Connecticut and Mink Brook today.
This weekend the Orford Art Group went to the 2nd Dartmouth College Grant. While we were waiting for Robin and Aimee to arrive, Althea and I went for a walk.
We stayed at the management center, the only cabin with a flush toilet. Although there was no electricity, there were gas lights, gas stove and gas refrigerator.
Just as they arrived, it started to rain. After it stopped, we took a ride up the Swift Diamond.
The next day, after dealing with a clogged drain, we drove up the Dead Diamond.
We didn’t do much art this weekend, but did discover several places we would want to return to when it was warmer and we weren’t as rushed. All in all, it was a good time: good friends, good food.
