I joined Jane and some of her family on North Hartland Lake this morning.
The wildlife did not disappoint.

We spent the morning on Post Pond, watching the loons. The parents were kept busy feeding the two babies.
We also saw other birds: red-winged blackbirds, Canada geese and plastic ducks among others.
It was a beautiful on Grafton Pond this morning. The sun was out, the laurel blooming, the birds singing and the loons plentiful including a 2 day old chick.
After this morning’s rain, Jane and I went to Eshqua Bog Natural Area, Hartland, VT, co-owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy of Vermont and The New England Wildflower Society.
They have built a boardwalk over the bog, making it handicapped accessible.
Hundreds of showy lady slippers were in bloom, a little past peak but still beautiful!
We also saw other bog plants.
Next year we will have to go earlier so we can see yellow lady slippers.
We paddled the Pompy this morning, enjoying the birds singing, the flowers blooming and otters doing otter things.
