North Hartland
On Sunday, Jane and I rode up to Shelburne, VT to go kayaking with Elaine. We put in at Shelburne Bay and headed up the LaPlatte River.
The river was full of wildlife. We saw several types of ducks, herons, osprey, cedar waxwings
There were points that it was difficult to navigate the fallen logs,
but we all had a good time.
After dodging raindrops, we found a mink(?) and the usual ducks on the Connecticut River.
A beautiful morning on Grafton Pond.
The geese were at the boat landing, hoping for a handout.
We saw two families of loons, one at least a week younger than the other. The younger set of babies were swimming and fishing alone, without parents close by.
The older baby’s parents showed up as soon as he called. This is probably the same family we saw on 6/30.
We took a leisurely paddle on North Hartland Lake this morning, seeing herons (blue, green and white), turtles, eagles.
