Grafton Pond 6/18

Jane and I went to Grafton Pond last week to see the loons.

As we approached the pond, we found a family on Canadian geese on the dam.

We saw a few loons.

While investigating some frog song, I came across a couple of large brown eggs in a mud nest.

Realizing what they were, I backed away and along came a loon who lumbered up onto the nest.

From my kayak 8/13-26

We have been out eight times in the past two weeks to our usual haunts: North Hartland Lake, Grafton Pond and the Connecticut River near Wilder, VT. We have seen birds:

  • 2 eagles — North Hartland Lake 8/25/19
  • Bald eagle — North Hartland Lake 8/24/19
  • Cedar waxwing — Connecticut River 8/26/19

as well as other animals and plants.

  • The some falls at the base of Quechee Gorge. –North Hartland Lake 8/25/19
