Three tom turkeys have been visiting our back deck the past few days.
Fog on the Connecticut
We walked at Kilowatt this afternoon, through thick fog. There weren’t many dogs for Munchkin to play with, but there were things to see. The river was glassy.
Wright Reservoir
One of our favorite places to walk is Hurricane Hill in Hartford. This fall, we were notified that the dam on Wright Reservoir was unsafe and that they would have to drain it.
When we walked there yesterday, the water was already down about 3 feet and you could see where they had repaired the spillway.
It was a cold, foggy day.
The weather prediction was for sunny in the 50’s, but the fog did not lift until 2:30 and the temperature didn’t hit 40. It was cold enough that ice stuck on branches didn’t melt.
But the mallards didn’t appear to mind.
Backyard critters
We put out the bird feeders about a month ago and have had a variety of visitors.
Hurricane Hill 10/13
We went walking around Wright Reservoir yesterday. They are planning on draining the water because the dam is in poor condition and the town does not have the capital reserves to fix it.
The ducks were enjoying the pond and we enjoyed watching them with the fall foliage reflected in the water.
