We went to the Vermont Institute for Natural Science, a raptor rehab center, on Mother’s day. All of the birds seen here have something wrong with them that prevent them from thriving in the wild: a broken wing that didn’t heal correctly, a broken beak, habituated to humans…

The early spring wildflowers are blooming.

We have had a snowy winter.

When I wasn’t taking my husband to the doctors to treat lymphoma, I’ve spent the time walking with the dogs at Kilowatt Park and Maxfield Sports Center.

I’ve seen a few birds, but for the most part not at my bird feeders.

I’m very glad to see a few signs of spring.

A few recent pictures:
after an ice storm,

a couple of birds, wild and otherwise

some power lines,

and a snowy Connecticut River.
