Yesterday, I kayaked the stretch of the Connecticut River from Bradford, VT to Orford, NH with Jane’s family. It was a trip down memory lane for me. My sister, Barb, (and sometimes others) paddled this stretch several times, camping near Piermont, painting several scenes each trip.
We had a relaxing paddle,
did some bird watching,
but were very glad to see the Orford bridge.
We ended the trip with a stop for ice-cream in Fairlee.
We paddled the Connecticut from Wilder to the Ledyard Bridge this morning and found a family of wood ducks that tolerated 2 ladies in their kayaks watching them doing their duck business for 20 minutes or more.
In the setbacks near the bridge, there is a nice view of the Montshire Museum, a pretty little waterfall, some geese and ducks.
A green heron played tag with us on the way back to the boat launch.
